Circa 1880's and displaying a plethora of naturalistic inspirations seen in Eastern arts that was soooo fashionable at the time, this piece is of Silver and hand crafted (likely in one of the workshops in Birmingham's famous jewellery quarter) with applied Gold elements giving a gorgeous three dimensional effect which is just delightful. This splendid Victorian locket is so wonderfully decorative, with hand engraved details; a range of techniques have been used to create the harmonious design which shows a stork standing at the edge of a bamboo forested river (traditionally meaning a messenger of the Gods). Just the loveliest patina to the whole, which can be polished more brightly if desired.
The locket measures two inches lengthwise and the chunky faceted belcher chain 18 inches.
